Racing of Bafoussam were denied a stoppage time penalty as they drew goalless with fellow relegation strugglers Panthere Sportive of Nde in an uneventful West Regional derby at the Yaoundé Ahmadou Ahidjou Stadium.

It was another of those disappointing outings for both clubs with neither of them able to provide the defining moment that would have meant so much.  Since winning their last games on April 2 2021, Panthere has now gone four games without a win while Racing Club are on a 5 game winless run.

The undesired result from Panthere Sportive and Racing Club sums up the clash void of any creativity and individual brilliance. Both teams clearly lacked the cutting edge in the final third and never looked like scoring during the last spells of the derby.

Things could have been different if a wasteful Racing Club had taken their chances. Second half substitute Pecko Abel had one of Racing’s best openings when he raced past Panthere’s defensive block but shot on the side netting.

He made a similar threatening run minutes later and was brought down in the box but the referee dismissed the calls for a penalty by players and angry fans who booed at the official at full time.

Racing’s skipper Lobe Sosso Faustin, Bop A Pop Mario and Fotue Tochie Fabrice had also come so close to scoring while Panthere’s lone offensive threat came from Mboua Boubakary.

The stalemate means Panthere Sportive is now only a point and a place above 12th place Racing Club on six points. But Racing Club could go on to tail the group if the current occupant TKC-who have a game in hand wins.
