Racing Football Club Return to Cameroon League One After Four Years
Armel Kengne scored a brace as Racing Football Club of Bafoussam came from behind to beat Fauve Azur three-one in a promotion playoff match. The game took place on Monday 20 September 2021 at the annex of the Japoma Stadium in Cameroon’s economic capital Douala.
“Le Tout Puissant de l’Ouest” have thus climbed into Elite One for the first time since 2017.
Haman put Fauve Azur ahead shortly after the half hour mark but their lead would be short-lived. Armel Kengne netted an equalizer before capping off his remarkable display with another strike. Fabrice Fotue then rounded off scoring for Racing FC.
“Le Tout Puissant de l’Ouest” could crown their season with a silverware if they defeat either of Renaissance of Ngoumou and OFTA of Kribi in league two’s title-deciding clash.
Fauve Azur have a chance to redeem themselves and become the third team to ascend to the top tier league. They will take on losers of the third-place playoff encounter pitting Renaissance and OFTA of Kribi.
